American Presidents Evaluation Criteria

Each student will be evaluated on the criteria described below.

Each student will be asked to view the videotape of one class and complete three peer evaluations.



THE PRESIDENTIAL PRESS CONFERENCE

100 points

Content = 60 points

20 points Answers are given in organized, understandable statements.

20 points Answers contain historical facts and are supported with examples, reasons logical explanations or cause/effect relationships.

20 points Questions selected address IMPORTANT ISSUES/CHALLENGES of the administration.

PRESENTATION = 40 points

20 points VOICE is clear and audible

10 points Speaker uses gestures and expression to emphasize the President's statements.

10 points Speaker has a colorful, attractive sign that relates to current events or campaign issues of the time.

WRITTEN COMPONENT

5 Questions and 5 Answers = 100 points

20 points Each question addresses an important aspect of the President's life, political career or administration.

40 points Each answer contains historical facts, reasons, cause/effect reasoning, examples or logical explanations in a minimum of 6 detail sentences.

20 points DRAFTS of questions and answers show revision and proofing.

Paragraphs begin with well written topic sentences.

Final Drafts have a minimum of 3 mechanical errors.

20 points BIBLIOGRAPHY is in correct form and contains a minimum of 3 sources, only one being an encyclopedia.
